For this section, I will dig deeper into my three main areas of proficiency in leading number talks. The first area of proficiency is launching the number talk and outlining my clear expectations and norms. I also successfully maintained and reinforced these norms as seen in how I adopted a more growth mindset where I welcomed my students’ mistakes. Finally, the last area where I showed proficiency was eliciting multiple strategies from my students on how they solved a problem. In other words, I did not immediately evaluate right or wrong answers but gave my students a chance to agentively and independently correct their mathematical thinking.
